No-nonsense tips for shooting better

It’s a refrain heard often: “I love photography. I’d really like to improve, to take the next step, but…” Life is busy. We all have a million things going on. And suddenly, before you’re able to carve out a few hours to practise your shooting, it’s vacation time again .

Here are a few very simple tips to help take your photography to the next level, just in time for the upcoming summer excursion season.

View your vacation as a mini assignment. Your goal is to come home with 10 images that capture part (not all) of the experience.

Yes, you read that right: 10 images are all you will share with others. A professional travel photographer could easily burn through 2,000 images on a week-long shoot, and of those, five or fewer will ever be seen by the public. Your first goal is to learn the art of ruthless editing.
